The extraordinary greed, arrogance and incompetence which led to the collapse of one of the world's great countries is laid bare in a report published today.

An independent inquiry into the so-called 'Phoney Four' has revealed an astonishing tale of sex, lies and money. Investigators uncovered a trail of shady property deals, interest-free loans, private jets and exotic holidays.

The only mystery is how they got away with it for so long. The consortium took over GB Limited with a large sweetener from the previous management. They also inherited a healthy bank balance and a huge fund of public goodwill.

I read this yesterday.

Didn't post the link because of the source, and this sites detest towards said source.

But, I found it quite a good article.

Makes you sick to think we've let this go on for so long.

I have only really ‘skimmed’ over some of the stories, but I do get the impression that the next GE isn’t the real prize. I fear that with Mandleson wanting the Lisbon Treaty ratified (so much so that he’s pretending to support Brown), the REAL power will be he who wields power in Brussels – the UK being looked upon as nothing more than an insignificant backwater province. Whoever gets elected next May will surely have their hands tied with regards to laws – will they be mere subordinates to the unelected EU law makers in Brussels?

What’s in it for Mandleson (and his bud Blair) if the Lisbon Treaty goes ahead? The end game must be worth it and filled with riches for him to support the unsupportable.

Why not concentrate on the many good things this government has achieved - such as increased the quality of life for millions of working class people by increasing minimum wage; how about the millions that have managed to take advantage of easier social mobility under labour; better rights for workers; more affordable housing; more rights for the disabled; multiculturalism; working towards a single Europe. The list goes on, and on...

Labour have taken all of the logical parts of socialism to create a better Britain - give them credit for that at least. I dread to think what would have happened under a Tory Government in the same timeframe as we've had under Labour.

We simply MUST move to Bangor - it sounds like a veritable oasis. A utopia of wonderful socialist ideals that have lifted the masses into a state of grace! I wonder what went wrong everywhere else?

I was about to shout "burn him" at you for that pro Labour comment, until I realised you were quoting.

Isn't Bangor where they still point at planes when they fly over? Says it all really.
