...apparently that's what we're trying to do - according to the PM.

So that's clarified that then!

Funnily - I've just watched GB 'speak' for what seems an hour, but I haven't heard him 'say' anything.

He said that the purpose is "Afghanisation"! Hope that helps!

Oh good he's taking his cues from G Bush and his attempt at Iraqisation, what can possibly go wrong?

My doff my hat to you, Sir. After approximately fifteen seconds of Gordon Brown 'speaking' I typically end up like the Captain of the Event Horizon.

Ok - I had the TV on while doing something else so I can't pretend to have superhuman reserves of patience - I still wanted to throw chairs at the TV.

It amazed me how he could make something so emotive sound like he was reading a budget report that had no substance and was only likely to annoy people more. It's a rare skill he has.

In the same way kids reading out loud at School always sounds boring - they're just reading words without understanding what it is they're saying.

In sales the accepted rule on sounding interesting is to be knowledgeable, convinced, and interested in what it is you're talking about.

Given that Brown doesn't appear to believe in anything except his superhuman powers as Saviour of the World's Financial System (tm), it's no surprise nobody listens to him.

That and the fact he makes Mugabe seem like a balanced and rational individual.
