Climate change - 10 trillion mirrors launched into space
Discussion
How to cool the planet - engineering Earth?
Hahaha trouble is they're actually serious! One idea is to use Stratospheric aerosols: "Previous volcanic eruptions have effectively provided case studies of the potential effectiveness of this method". They want to block the sun out with man realeased dust particles!! Great, it's bloody cold enough already!
"A UK Royal Society study has concluded that many engineering proposals to reduce the impact of climate change are "technically possible".
Such approaches could be effective, the authors said in their report.
But they also stressed that the potential of geo-engineering should not divert governments away from their efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Such engineering projects could either remove carbon dioxide or reflect the Sun's rays away from the planet."

Some suggestions include: a giant mirror on the Moon; a space parasol made of superfine aluminium mesh; and a swarm of 10 trillion small mirrors launched into space one million at a time every minute for the next 30 years
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8231387.stmWhat is utterly daft is that they are assuming the man made CO2 panic is for real, despite the lack of conclusive data.
I'd rather we did our science scientifically and pressed forward looking for more valid data. Attention would be better spent on actually dealing with the forthcoming energy crisis rather than this CO2 nonsense.

Yes and at the moment it's lack of any (direct observational) evidence, and from the science that is sufficiently understood that evidence won't be forthcoming anytime soon.Jasandjules said:
Hasn't been a long hot summer for about 3 years now. Though I do recall when there were 2-3 consecutive nice summers we were told it was all down to Global Warming.. Does that mean the "climate is changing" to being cold? Eco Worriers, advice please.........
They have advice based on anti-capitalism and class envy but little else, as we know from the reporters infiltrating the campists.Meanwhile...
