I don't see where this is a bad idea unless it causes innocents to be executed. :

I'm surprised the American prison service hasn't looked at this option.

I could be wrong but my understanding was that certain people who had certain matches with certain members of Chinese High Command mystically got the death penalty....

The question to my mind is, does your body belong to the state, or not? I say it's your body, that means you may do with your body as you wish. IT should not be for the state to harvest your organs without your consent.

This has been the case for years hasn't it?I'm sure i once read am article, which explicitly said they changed the execution method in order to save the eyes? Something like shooting the back of the skull off so the front end didn't get -erm- mushed...

Might be the way forward- As we seem incapable of locking them up for a minor offence whip out a kidney- they have a spare after all!

Not talking specific about you Jimbeaux, but it's ironic to me that many Americans want to boycott Scotland over freeing the 'likely' innocent Megrahi, but they'll still buy $$$$$$$$$$'s of goods from China, a nation with a legendary human rights abuse record.
The chinese inject condemned prisoners, many supposed 'political' prisoners, with blood anti-coagulant so the organs can be harvested, the organs are for sale or pre-order - sick bds.

No offense taken here. Firstly, there are relatively very few Americans even thinking about boycotting Scotland, despite what some media may say. As for the Chinese, it is difficult to not buy things from there as they make every trinket used on a daily basis. However, lately there has been alot of wariness toward their products after various lead poisonings and other badly regulated things have occurred.

Damn good idea! A decent public spectacle too (the execution, not the organ harvesting). If they're going to abuse human rights, they might as well make it more of a deterrent against murder, rape, and violent crimes.

IMO it should also be extended to those who willfully get themselves into unsecured debt, without any income or job to ever pay the money back to the creditors.

Their organs should go some way towards paying off the creditors.

This has been going on for years.

It has been suggested that they make it deliberately difficult for people to appeal their convictions because of the $$ of the harvested organs. And in China, the death penalty can be given for a multitude of fairly innocuous crimes.

I didn't notice it in the linked article, but how do they execute them?

I'm guessing poisoning (gas/lethal injection) might have unpleasant side effects for the new host, electric chair is probably going to cook some worthwhile bits and shooting/hanging involves a fair bit of physical trauma, again possibly causing damage to something worthwhile. I wonder what they do?

I'm guessing that they knock them out, remove the required parts then shoot/poison/hang what's left?

Single shot to the head, with best efforts to avoid the eyes. Corneal transplants is big money, apparently...

Not sure if the relatives of the condemned are still being sent bills for that single bullet. Always find that mildly amusing for some reason.
