"The dissident republicans mounting the illegal checkpoint may not have realised that the unmarked car was a police vehicle.

The BBC subsequently established that there had been at least seven terrorists, maybe more.

Six were carrying machine guns, the other is said to have had a rocket launcher and they were handing out leaflets warning people against co-operating with the security forces on either side of the border. "

"Some have suggested that the police should have moved in and arrested the gang." spin

So is this kind of terrorism Ok then because its terrorists that New Labour like? Or did they really think that getting one group of IRA to disarm would get rid of those that hate Brits/Protestants/Other religions/Police to their very core? They cannot be that naive can they?

What will happen if trouble does kick off again? They are removing the RAF from NI in the next few years, they dont have enough soliders to put back in and that would be a bad move politically, and the balls have been cut off the Police in the formation of the PSNI. Then the problem of the amount of catholics in the PSNI.

When I was young, a catholic RUC man lived down my street. He came from down near the border on the other side of NI. If he came home the IRA had told him that they would kill his family. What will happen with that level of intimidation nowadays? And living under threat daily. I am not confident that all those from nationalist areas will stay in the police.

Its already been proven this year that there is still the means and intent to kill members of the security forces.

Who did they ask? Paddy Schwarzenneger and Chuck O'Norris?
