Oh no! You won't be able to sell kilts to that small group of Americans who call themselves Scottish whenever they are invited to a wedding.

Iranian, actually. The crew got shiny campaign medals when they got back home, despite mistaking a large airliner flying a constant speed and heading for an incoming fighter.

They have a point, judging by the threads that seem to excuse islamic terrorism and talk about 9/11 being some made up American conspiracy and now this tosser being let out 'on compassionate grounds'rolleyes - I can't say I blame them.

That's the one, didn't want to post about the medals incase I was wrong. Was over Iranian waters too iirc. Funny how that has been forgotten about

When they boycotted France they just ordered two burgers instead of chips.

This time I think they'll stick to Whiskey until someone sells Freedom Liquor.

Rumor is that his appeal was likely to succeed, and that letting him out was an easier solution.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me to blame scotland for letting a convicted terrorist go when scotland has just let that convicted terrorist go.

Who do you expect them to blame for this utter feck-up?

Would it have suceeded before he died though? 3 months (predicted time left) sems very short for an appeal of this magnitude?

Could the appeal not have continued after his death?

<puts cynical hat on>

could it not simply be a concession to gadaffi in his attempts to rehabilitate himself on the world stage? having already paid compentation etc. and stopped libyan terrorist groups? the UK and US get an arabic ally and can pin the flak on a political minnow.

<keeps cynical hat on, this being PH after all>
