in Pubs eek It's bad enough to have to put up with drinking out of a plastic 'glass' when I go to an outdoor event but to get a plastic pint would be the final straw that stops me going to the pub altogether.

Just because some chavs & pikeys use them to throw at each other then it's time to stop everybody drinking out of them. Bye bye pub.

Typical of this government to tackle the effect rather than the cause.

Fair enough in town centre pubs that sell booze cheaply and encourage people to get pissed.

But not in my local. No way! A pint of lager in the wrong glass without a decent widget tastes st, let alone a plastic beaker.

But you might get pissed and hit someone with it.

You are forgetting nanny* knows better than you.

  • nanny, in this case someone who just happens to make plastic 'glasses', it appears.

Had those for a while in the town centre closest to me. It's become a bit of a sport round here, obviously not in the locals or villages but in the rougher/cheaper bars happens nightly.

There is a couple of pubs that I go to that also have music venues.
Usually given plastic tumblers if you are in the music section, which is probably sensible as it is dark, packed (hopefully) and usually involves stairs.

Beer just does not taste the same though from a plastic tumbler.

I assume (hope!) this is a silly season story and like most of these stories is based only on a 'pie in the sky' idea which has been blown out of proportion.

I assume this will not include any pub that classifies as a restaraunt type affair? Not much point in giving out metal cutlery but plastic beakers!

....plastic glasses suck....I can just about put up with them at an open air festival but I would never go to a pub anywhere that served beer in plastic....

If it's such a big problem have they banned drinking from bottles too? Not as far as I know.

"Official figures show 5,500 people are attacked with glasses and bottles every year in England and Wales."......compared to how many millions drink in pubs thats not very high really is it?! I've never seen it happen even, though once when working in a club one was thrown at me by a punter (they missed by a long way and were promptly 'exited' in an unpleasant manner!)

Bitter should always come in a glass. This one step too far!

They've not banned pint glasses either. But at a lot of places you get served plastic bottles.

I usually drink bottles or spirits when I'm out but when I do get a drink in plastic it's not the same. I've been bottled round the head before and it's not that big a deal biggrin just don't serve people who look like scum wink

There is a better alternative to plastic that doesn't shatter and cut people.

I'm pretty sure I could give you a nasty gash with that.

Speaking of picking up nasty gash in the pub, you should have seen my mate on friday night...

Things like this make me want to stove in the head of the person who came up with it with a 'handle'.

We're properly in the st; economically and socially speaking and all they can do is fk about designing new pint glasses.
