You bring them into the EU so you can gradually rebuild there country in a way that make them better neighbors.

It's the European way, the Yanks charge around using tanks and bombs to convert people to their way of thinking we bring them into the EU. Next stop for Turkey while the US will probably go on the rampage in Iran.

My mate Vinnie (from Bulgaria) who works as an IT consultant was telling me how there are hotels, empty of any guests, yet there are Ferraris and Bentleys parked at the front (belonging to the owners).

According to Vinnie, Bulgaria were gifted circa 30million toward building a reservoir, but the "corrupt" government have recycled this money into other projects. When EU reps came to visit, he said they (Bulgarian officianados) literally rushed to get some geezer sat in a JCB to show that work (on the reservoir) had started.

People-trafficking and drug trade are big business behind all this carry-on.

Why on earth should we want to rebuild their country for them?

A nice stable country that you trade with is unlikely to be one you go to war with. That was one of the original intentions of the EU after it's post WW2 founding. They also under western europes sphere of influence away from Russia. As I said ealier the Yanks try and impose there values via guns, the EU is a bit more subtle but arguabley more effective.

The best way of stopping the spread of radcial islam would be to mould Turkey into a EU member.

Arguably less effective too. Appeasement isn't always the answer.

You mean absorb a moslem country into the EU so they can legally migrate to any of the member states?

Since becoming EU members which states have gone to war with each other? American imperalism doesn't seem to have spread peace and love to many people who have been on the receiving end.

Muslim. The point is that you help develop their country so they don't feel they need to migrate, if you have been to Germany you will have seen they already have a significant Turkish population.

There is also the demographics argument, with an aging population there EU and the US will need immigrants. Attracting enough immigrants to support West Europes states is going to be a major challenge over the next 20 years.

Surely this post surely contravenes the "racist and offensive" rules of PH?

With the demographics argument, there are issues with importing moslem immigrants, as highlighted by recent threads within this forum. It doesn't bode well for the future of our children or grandchildren if the trend continues, IMO

Racist? No. "Romanian" and "Bulgarian" are nationalities, not races.

Offensive? Yes.

I'm not anti-EU per se, but I do have my doubts about expanding a union which is committed to integration when the countries which are joining are culturally quite different and economically imbalanced.

Plenty of thick, unhygenic and animal behaving Brits in Bulgaria, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estomia, Humgary, Czech Republic and many more countries. They're also in places like Malta ruining the local culture, paying no tax and scamming retired couples (via timeshare scams). Need I continue?

If I wanted to read the Mail on Sunday, I'd go to the shop and buy it.

To the OP - please try to avoid the temptation to start a thread with a racist/offensive statement and little else by way of an explanation. We demand higher standards than this around here. rolleyes
