Before going further I'd just like to apologise if the following thread makes anybody’s urine warm, blood pressure go up or gives them an irreversible case of valve bounce smile

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politic...

So looks like were pumping a further £2,300,000,000.00 into the EU in 2010/11, like most I was wondering what for, I mean I'm quite fond of the rest of Europe, but cant for the life of me actually see any benefit to increasing by 60%(telegraphs figures not mine) our contribution. That means that for every pound I manage to earn I have to pay 3p of that into the EU coffers to subsidise French farming / Greek industry / African Roads and god knows what other complete ste furious

So thanks to the architects of this A Blair, P Mandleson & W Mcfknut, all of whom have been responsible for giving up the rebate that Baroness Thatcher got us from the EU. Thanks chaps I really appreciate it and hopefully one day will be able to express my thanks to you in person tank

Sorry, but what exactly do we get from this money? What is the benefit?

Exactly, so what is the point of giving up the money? It makes no difference to NATO, so what is the point? Are we paying for free trade?

No, we are the 2nd highest donors to the EU already.

This can only go in one direction - further pressure for the UK to leave this abomination. If the Irish vote yes, the 2 issues combined are going to cause massive further resentment of the EU.

I now live and own a campsite in France,I went to the local chambre of commerce for some advice on mobile homes etc.I kid you not, within 5 minutes we were talking about what I could claim back from the EU for this that and the other. There is no way that would happen in the UK,I would have been left in the dark about such things because you are left to your own devices. In the UK you are going to be royalley fked over

Go to Spain, loads of new developments like roads, swimming pools, etc all of them all have big signs up next to them telling everyone that €xx,xxx was funded by some grant. 90% of these have a little EU flag that indicates it's free EU money that paid for it.

If the true will of the electorate is too stay out of Europe & protect the already mauled UK taxpayer assets, there is a fundamental problem with the political system. Legislation breezes by under the noses of apathetic MP`s who toe the party line irrespective. Gordon & Mandy are dragging us deeper in a subtle coup d’état..

Yes because all the EU grants are annexed off by the civil service for government projects in the UK. That why all the colleges and universities are having new iconic pieces of architecture constructed.

Most criminal of all is English heritage dishing out EU money to the church of england to restore old crap that needs demolishing as no one worships there anymore. Instead of confiscating it and using the land for affordable housing we allow this asset building at our expense. grrrr time to lynch the bishops.

In fairness to the EU It is possible to take a 3rd world status country and make it into a first rate economy, Ireland is a great example. When the UK was a net recipient of money we squandered it on all sorts of nonsense. As a result we are still the failed 3rd rate little island with delusions of grandure we started as.

It almost sounds as if a Mafia-style Oligarchy has formed in Belgium hidden from plain view by member governments, the fog of bureaucracy, and citizen apathy combining to dilute and misdirect the people's wrath.

The last person who tried making europe be ruled from one city had a funny little tash and a load of tanks and stukas. Bet he wishes he'd thought of the EU think of all the time and money he'd have saved. Men like churchill must be spinning in their graves knowing what these limp wristed no hopers that we call a government have sold out our country for.

The further irony there is for all of the hailing of Churchill as a hero(rightfully so IMO), if in power today he would be flamed from all directions as a "Neocon" and "Nationalist", etc.

According to another item in The telegraph, the area of Greece declared for growing olives claiming EU olive growing subsidy is about the size of Canada! It's only our money so why should anyone the other side of the Channel give a toss?

is it really a democracy when not one voter in this country would actually vote for more money to the eu and yet its still going to happen....and when they finally do kickstart the crapbag economies needing help they will tell the eu to get fked when their asked for higher funding.....
