Not sure of exact figure but this was on the news just now that the audit office has found that they cannot account for billions of hardware - are they really that incompetant or has that money been syphoned off for black ops ( or have i been watching too many films ). or is it a case that all that hardware has been destroyed by the taliban!

They're not accountants.

Gordon Brown can't account for the £10 billion OVERPAID IN EROR under the Tax Credit system.

cant you sort them out eric wink

am sure they should be employing accountants! - does the audit office do the same as private auditors or do they get in accountants like pwc etc as well to audit them?

More Labour spin to try to clean up their image otr put the blame on anyone else.. The MoD didn't have the paperwork at that moment so the labour drones immediately said it was the MoDs fault that millions are missing. It's not missing, the paperwork was not available at that moment that's all....
Another non-story in the silly season..
similar to the Labour Scumbag trying to shame General Dannat, because he won't kowtow to their socialist lies!! All totally unfounded just Labour SCUM trying to avert the impending Armageddon.. hopefully they'll all be wiped out come the next election!!

I seem to remeber something like this from a fair few years back, somebody stuck an extra 0 on the end of an order for SA80s and we ended up with a few warehouses too many...

The UK's weapons industry is second in export value, only to oil. Most of the Arms manufacturers in the UK are run by the same people from the same schools as the MP's. Old school tie an all that.

If you can find AH-64s etc down the back of the couch, that's one big couch..

I suspect this is just (as another poster put) an attempt to discredit the army because the army are complaining at the incompetent half wits (which is being a bit generous) in Govt at this time for sending the troops out with poor equipment etc.

I know a company which is a supplier to the MOD, been so for a long time, everything done through the correct channels. Now they recieve regular individual orders for a low value product £1ish which incurs a £10 carriage charge.

I carry on looking once I've found the item, solely to avoid this being the case.

I'm working with the MoD in civilian payroll at the moment - the Payroll Accounting Team don't have a single qualified accountant nor even any trained bookkeepers. rolleyes

One of my recent tasks was to produce a system for reconciling monthly payovers - it strikes me that would be their job but nevermind, keeps my income ticking over...

mod can't account for 7 odd billion????

Personally, I am shocked and disgusted! All these years, they've been lying to us! We don't get paid, they said! We do it because we love PH, they said. Well now we know the truth, don't we! hehe

I quit working in the sector 3 years ago as I couldnt face the way money was just pissed around. DFTS/DII(c)/DII(f)/Atlas consortium

that is probably a billion or two just there, wasted on surplus. The culture is things that should take x time takes x squared than randomly multiplied by a prime number larger than 101. Introducing services just because a colour wants a new toy with little actual benefit. Employing contractors that subcontract who further subcontract so the actual work costs x but due to the layers of contractors it costs y. The sector is run by people who dont actually have an understanding of what they are engaging so the suppliers tell them and they suck it down.

I quit never to return, thats a lucrtive career done with
