I know it's the Sun, but still;

The Sun said:
SO it's true - the youth of today really DO have it easy.
An exam board is offering certificates to youngsters for carrying out everyday tasks such as HAIR BRUSHING and HAND WASHING - all at the taxpayers' expense.

Yesterday, The Sun told how teen Bobby McHale was recognised by exam board AQA for catching a bus.

He didn't even realise he had passed the "test" when he took part in a three-week council-run youth centre scheme called Bury and Rochdale Activity Generation. The Government-backed initiative costs £20,000 a year to run.

If this is a repost, well i couldn't find it.

AQA - Using a vending machine

1. Determine item required by communicating own choice or by instruction.

2. Select a vending machine appropriate for the item required.

3. Insert appropriate coin/s into the machine.

4. Identify and push the correct button for the item.

5. Retrieve the purchase from the machine.

6. Retrieve change from the machine if appropriate
!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do I get my AQA Award for banging one out? Do I get extra marks for the further I shoot my load?

ETA: Is it me or do they make using a vending machine more difficult than necessary? Surely Points 1 & 2 can be skipped? If you feel like a can of coke then you're going to go directly to the fking can machine.

You think the kids have any say in this? You'll notice it is the ADULTS doing this crap. People from YOUR generation... maybe you need to look a bit closer to home for the ridiculous nature of such things?

Somewhere, in the UK, there will be a department which gets a healthy budget and its sole purpose of existance is to come up with certification ideas, and when they have saved their money til around March then blown the lot, they will no doubt have got the same or more this year to do more of the same.

It's not workiing then.

This is old news and was in the paper last week.

The brother of the 'skilled bus user' somehow failed the exam.

Who do I sue when the combined weight of all the certificates that I must be able to pass injures me?

Health & Safety should ban picking up bits of paper, pronto before someone gets hurt.

I can kind of understand the thinking behind this actually, as it probably isn't very nice to be 'special' and see other classmates getting certificates for no work (e.g. GCSEs) but since it's retards we're dealing with why not just run the certificates off with Word? It's not as though they'll tell the difference.

I believe that the "catching a bus" qualification gives extra credit for not licking the windows.

The links from this page range from just plain stupid to really scary use of public resources.
