France and Germany exit their recessions
Discussion
Very fragile economies still, but technically they have exited their recessions:

David Buik of BGC Partners said Germany and France would recover more quickly because of their prowess in exporting - contrasting with the UK's emphasis on services and banking.

But hang on a minute. Gordon Brown said that we, Britain, were best placed to deal with recession and would emerge first. But our recession is deepening.. Shurly shome mishtake?
Didn't we enter recession later than other countries?Mervyn King however sees it differently.

Fingers crossed indeed, though we all know how trustworthy those hedge funders are P.S.: This is where we will see the real situation with our economy, and how bad a state our economy really is in.
Brown said we were better placed than anyone to get out of this recession. Well, if that was the case, how come the French and Germans are over it before us!?
I do hope than my pessimism is proved wrong though.

Construction holds another:
Can you look at the two graphs and take a guess when the Brownturn started?

I must admit I've paid less than very little attention to all this talk of recession, but perhaps (and I'm no supporter) Brown was talking about the length of time a country is in recession, and not the date which it left.
Still doing a lot of work for the BBC are you? The only people still even remotely defending Browns execrable handling of the economy are a few (not all) members of the NEC and the leftie luvvie BBC.
Whatever butters your bread..

So the REPUBLICs of France and Germany are beginning to thrive again. We are still ROYALLY shafted. Time fora change of tack then?
But the Principalities of Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Monaco are all richer per capita than either Britain, France or Germany. So should we become a principality?Parrot of Doom said:

Didn't we enter recession later than other countries? They recently revised the start of the recession backwards by one quater - meaning we entered the recession at the same time as Germany and France...

That fact that so many people lap-up every scrap of 'official' (read party political) data they're fed, combined with a general, abject cluelessness and apathy about business and the economy and it's no wonder our governments (I use the plural, because this goes way back) get away with such blatant lies.
