Story on London news this evening regarding a bloke who tried to throw his girlfriend through the front window of a shop on Oxford St.

Tried 3 times before the window finally smashed. He died almost immediately after getting impaled on large shard of glass, she ended up with minor cuts and bruises.

Epic fail.

I thought it was Banana Republic's window? That's in Regents Street, isn't it?

Unless it was a decades old shop front, there shouldn't have been any shards anyway. Toughened safety glass will shatter, and laminated wouldn't have broken up into shards confused

I reckon the shop fitters might be getting a tap too.

Oh the wit of PH never fails even in a nasty death wink

On the other hand, I was in that very area/street last night having worked late and I was amazed at just how busy it is even in the early hours yes

Guy who's trying to beat up a girl falls foul of his own plan. I'd say that it's more 'just desserts' than 'nasty death'.

that reminds me...

Hello BG,

I've got a PVC double glazed bay window with one two small pull up windows at the top , and one of them has somehow got some moisture in it, mainly I supposed because I leave it open for fresh air when I'm on the PC, and I guess the rain fall over time has gotten in. Anyway, is there some way I can get rid of it without resorting to reglazing it?

Well, what's IN the shop. The exterior (incl windows) may have been unchanged for years.

Regardless, laminated/toughened glass isn't there to stop idiots getting impaled when they smash through it. It's there to improve security and isn't cheap so I would guess it's not as common as people think.

Brand new fit-out including frontage/windows etc. It's the flagship store for a big US clothing company.

But went for the cheap glass! Fair enough.

Are they legally obliged to fit laminated glass? Can laminated glass end up with a serrated edge (which is my guess).

Either way, it didn't shatter into a million pieces like in the movies then biggrin

Toughened glass shatters into tiny pieces(car side windows) laminated will not (windscreens).
