There's been a few strikes this summer, are they just winding up for the winter of discontent?

We dont see mail in this house before midday.

Never have, probably never will.

Therefore any sympathy towards their plight is non existent from the off.

You're lucky you get it at all, I've had countless items of mail go missing, and that's just the things I've been expecting. God know how much of the unexpecting stuff also goes missing.

Actually, I doubt any unexpected stuff goes missing as that would all be bills and the like, whereas the expected stuff is small parcels bought online, or replacement credit\debit cards. Not that I'm suggesting that the postal workers in my area are light fingered, work shy, lazy fkers.

The only day we get post early is on a Friday, so they can all fk off down to the Wetherspoons for midday, still in uniform, and with the bikes all parked up outside.

I really don't like post staff, as with most things I'm sure there are one or two good people but I'm afraid in my experience I have never met one of them and therefore I have absolutely zero sympathy with their 'pay and conditions' bks.

wkers.

+1 & the amount of our mail that goes missing (even though everything we ship has a return address) is a fking joke.

Ours come some time around mid-day except Saturday when they always feel the need to have to ring the bell/make a lot of noise at 7am....

Ah, it seems that posties 'Wetherspoons Day' is a Saturday in your area.

The Postie that delivers to my girlfriends house came to leave a parcel for the house opposite, the cheeky actually said to her "Feels like a phone charger"!

Every tried calling them about it?

'Well Sir, business gets priority I'm afraid'

'Care to explain then love why the 3 businesses located at this address have to wait until midday to get their post?'

wkers.

Our post arrives as late as 3 pm some days. It's because our place is nearest to where the postie lives, so she does this road last as it means she gets to go straight home afterwards. It's quite noticeable when she's on holiday (which seems to be quite often!) as the post usually arrives around 10 am when she's not there.

But that said, she does put parcels round the back for me (even if I'm in, to save disturbing me while I work!), she sorts out all my Keepsafe requests because the muppets at their central office rarely, if ever, send out the notification to the sorting office in time (and on one infamous occasion, they forgot to send it at all...), and if something needs signing for and I'm not in, she either pops in at the end of her shift or asks one of her colleagues who lives opposite to take it home and bring it round to me later in the day.

I don't have a problem with the post being late most days if there's a little give and take. Hell, I've even been known to stand on the doorstep and pretend to sympathise when she's complaining about the "long" hours she has to work. hehe

In my perfect Britain, anyone who strikes would be instantly replaced with someone unemployed who wants to work - those on strike, or work-shy, would be collected up and made to fight mechanical lions. smile

We're in a large shared office so have a collection from the foyer each day. Postie didn't like working too late so started collecting the days post at 4.45 rather than the 5.45 they were supposed to. now they collect at 5.00 on the dot - they turn up at 4.55, get everything ready and almost get down onto the starting line so they can sprint out the door just in case someone wants to add anything else to the bag.

No no, it was actually a replacement phone charger the neighbour had ordered. Of course, he obviously felt that wasn't worth anything of value so decided to deliver it. The tt.

At home, since we're up a steep lane to nowhere, we suspect our postie skips a day if the weather's really bad, or otherwise gets it delivered at some point before 3pm.

My office is on an industrial estate. "Normal" post is anything from 0745 to 0900, but then there are very occasional days where we're waiting at 11am.

The industrial action shows just how far out of whack the reality radar of some unions and unionised industry is. If they, or the transport and General wkers Union take any further action, I think they might, for the first time, feel what it's like to be 'the bad guys' in the eyes of the general public.
