The future jobs fund appears to be Labours latest attempt to reduce unemployment just in time for the next election. What it doesn't mention in the article is that the jobs are not intended to be sustainable but simply 6 months working on minimum wage or on a training scheme.

Surely investing £1bn in British business would be better than creating unrequired non jobs in the public sector?

Or giving it back to the people who earned it, they are more likely to spend it wisely than the government.

Think of all the Labour voters who work in the public sector.

Doesn't really matter as they won't be getting back in.

If Brown had any balls at all we would have had an election by now, but he's grasping to the reigns of power like a fat kid with a pie.

Can someone give the statistic of how many public sector jobs have been created since 1997?

40% of all new jobs created in the UK which was 600,000 but that is a 2005 figure.

So how many of them are Labour voters? Can't be a kick in the backside of 100%

Highly likely, I wonder how many local authorities with Labour MP's get more or these jobs than the ones with Tory or Lib Dem members.

I know the current one are cutting so many budgets several North East LA's are trying as hard as possible to justify the posts across their 5 or 6 layers of management.

I know what you're saying but 1,2,4,5, and probably 7 will have made you pay some form of tax to support the public sector.

I see what you are saying, but the sooner these fools fold up, the better.

I am not deep into politics, as you can probably imagine. God knows how the next government is going to deal with the Olympic games situation, it can only spell trouble for the public sector in the coming years i suspect.

I hope they sort themselves out soon.

Pah, 1 Billion is but a drop in the ocean compared to how much has been wasted on IT systems, some which have gone ahead and are now costing even more, and some which didn't get off the ground.
