Is it just me, or are the amount of weather warnings issued at the moment just crazy?

Has anyone in the UK witnessed weather in the past month that they felt took them by complete surprise, beyond a weather forecast, that put them in danger?

Driving conditions will be dangerous with surface water and spray.

WTF? It's fking raining! Who needs to be warned that rain might cause surface water and spray?
