Definatley a good invention. In that pic on the link - why would anyone need a gallon tin of the stuff?

Went for a job there, but they just laughed me out of the room.

Never understood why.

A very real contribution to mankind!

I have one of those big tins - very useful for soaking old parts in overnight to free them up.

Interestingly enough, ask you pals why it is called WD40,

Magic stuff though.

And I have a tin of Castrol grease in my garage I brought in 1969, still some left in it. Brought it to re-instate the ball bearings in the steering head of my BSA 650cc Clubmans Lightning.

It thought everyone knew that and it was because it was his 40th attempt.

I've not read the link though so i could be wrong.

EDIT: ah see i was right.

Remember making up that ignition device that clamped on the can?

Instant flame thrower. smile

Hours of (fairly) harmless fun.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Everyone needs a gallon of WD-40!!!
Actually that reminds me, I'm a bit thirsty.

It's usually a refill for the plastic sprayer on the right of the picture. Cheaper than constantly buying pressurized tins in a comercial/industrial environment.

Very sad though, I shall move the can of WD-40 to the front of the shelf.

"Water Displacement #40", I believe. Here is an interesting list of "other" things WD-40 can be used for. The Snopes article gives a quick background then gives a long list of uses. WD-40 Corp., near the bottom of the article, modifies that list a bit. Still, and impressive amount od uses. The bug removal and distributor trick has been proven in my regionsmile :

The father of an ex-girlfriend of mine used to be able to get me tools and stuff sneaky-free-like via his work. I asked him for some WD40, expecting a small tin, maybe two. Instead I got a five gallon drum of the stuff with a refillable spray gun and a kit for filling it. yikes

If it wasn't for the fact that I had to leave it behind when we split up and I moved out, I'd still be using it now...... and probably no more than half a gallon into it.
