Well, protesting employees. Its simple. You have the skills. You think the market is clearly so good that your company are just moving to be greedy - so fill the void.
There are 625 of you. Pile in your personal gurantees, keep making the turbines and enter the market.
What's that?
Personal guarantees, you say?
Risk?
What's that?
etc etc etc...

I don't think anyone would be surprised to find that the production of the turbines will be moved to China as the majority of the turbine blade manufacturers and their suppliers have been opening plants out there.
So we are busy exporting jobs and are hell bent, indeed forced, into buying the products those exported jobs make.
So much for all the jobs the govt is saying will be generated by the green economy. Plus how many units of CO2 does it cost to ship all this stuff around the world.
There's already wind turbine manufacturers forging the 35 tonne castings for the centre shafts in China, shipping to Eastern Europe for the machining( cos Chinese QC is crap), then shipping said shafts back to China for assembly into the turbines that we in the UK pay a German energy company over the odds through our electricity bill to place around our coats using cheap Polish contractors.
You couldnt make this farcical situation up.
I just despair for British manufacturing.
Cheers,
Tony

What would be so wrong with the government actually using taxpayers money to purchase equient made in Britain by British workers, rather than letting the manufacturing go overseas and paying unemployment benefit to those put out of work? Absolute rubbish
How about the government only give contracts to components that are manufacturer within the UK?Say Vestas and Siemens have to have a production line in the UK. IF they are going to be throwing billions at them I don't see why not.

How about the government withdrawing altogether from this pointless, expensive crap...?Say Vestas and Siemens have to have a production line in the UK. IF they are going to be throwing billions at them I don't see why not.
Rather odd protest.
Company says we're moving production.
Employees refuse to leave building.
Company moves production.
End of.
However:
Some staff can be sacked for gross misconduct.
Redundancy less costly for company.
So I can't help wondering whether the employees who are refusing to leave the building had really thought through their strategy.

The actual story - govt entices Dutch Vestas company to build turbines in the UK by promising 7000 wind turbine orders. Virtually all of the proposed wind turbine sites (including those on the IOW) are rejected for planning consent due to local pressure and cancelled. Promised wind turbine orders never appear. Vestas shut factory. Today govt says they are going to change the law so they can make it 'easier' to get planning permission for wind turbines, ie ride roughshod over the people who live under the turbines. Another proud day for New Labour.

I wouldn't mind a wind turbine in my back garden...As long as I could nail Winky, Harriet and Mandy to the blades...

Unfortunately if you want to retain British engineering, you have to lower wages, or increase prices...and the 60 million people in this country would also have to be persuaded to buy British.Cheers,
Tony
They won't though. They'll do the sensible thing, and buy whatever is cheapest.
