So, the Government are bringing in a load of new laws to help police the Olympic Games in 2012.

One of these new laws gives the police the 'right' to enter the private dwelling of people who live near the Olympic sites, search for 'Protest materials', and if any are found they can give you a fine then and there!

With any luck the current lot of incumbents will be out by 2012 and these will all be redacted from the law books...

Apparently, the fines for "possesion of equipment that could be detrimental to the olympics" could reach up to £20,000!!!

What are the odds that they keep this particular law on after the Olympics are finished!?

Haven't found one yet. Was hearing it off the news on the radio. Will try and find one.

I'm not sure if they have been brought in to effect, or whether they still need to go through the house first.

The powers were introduced by the Olympics Act of 2006, passed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, supposedly to preserve the monopoly of official advertisers on the London 2012 site.

Makes one wonder how many more such laws are just waiting to bite us on the ar$e come the appropriate time.
