Which is worse..the fact that someone did it or the fact that I am not surprised...?

Every day another reason for bringing back corporal punishment, public stocks and flogging.

Most of the little sts I see look like they need a good slap.

Its disgusting, but its the way its going these days.

You already get them in the cemeteries knocking down the headstones etc.. Makes me wish it was their parents whos was being kicked down.

Quite glad my Dad was cremated now, it'd be terrible to go and find his Headstone wrecked.

As I've stated before.

Click, bang, repeat as necessary.

In many ways I'm surprised they actually stuck a memorial there in the first place, and whilst the 'war on terror' is still ongoing - at worst it would become a focus for pro-Jihadist movements or individuals.

I don't mean it like that, I mean it's always going to attract a lot of attention because of the nature of it's circumstances.

Several Muslims died in the bombings, and I don't mean the ones that blew themselves up, I mean innocent people who were commuting with everyone else.

If you want to wait for the war on terror to end before putting up a memorial then it'll be a bloody long wait.

Plus there is no evidence that it was a pro-Jihadist that wrote on there. Could quite easily be some white kid who did it on a dare, or who doesn't give a damn about those that died.

I said at worst.

At best it's going to attract the knobend elements who thinks it's funny or cool to do stuff like this.

Like the pricks who push over War Grave headstones or desecrate Jewish graveyards, utterly pointless.

They should have had CCTV on it from the start. In addition to their half-hours community service, they could have their pictures broadcast throught London.

This was quite possibly a school-kid on a trip who doesn't understand the significance (or generally have much respect for the monuments they are being wheeled around). God knows, London gets them by the coach-load all summer.

No, we should have effective punishments that act as a deterrent!

A couple of words in black marker pen, and the words unrevealed - which may or may not be offensive, unplesant or vicious, or not.

Take a couple of wipes with a wd-40 dampened cloth to remove it in a few seconds, surely. Hardly vandalism, which usually involves mindless destruction. I get the feeling this news story is rather hyped.

Don't think they used to vandalize memorials in "the old days"

"The pillar that was defaced bore the inscription "Kings Cross - 08.50 - 7th July 2005". "

At least it wasn't some chav scum writing 'Danine heart Keith'. Still, if it was someone that was outraged at the attacks, or maybe even knew someone that was killed or injured, why write it on the post? Just leave it as it is, the memorial is very fitting.
