Looks like the price to pay for stabilising their economy is the raping of their seas by the CFP.

Just before we became an oil rich nation we had some of the worlds most stupid people ie civil servants, conclude that the only way forward was to manage our economy down to third world status. Instead of sacking and scrapping the civil service the then PM Tuff Ted, negotiated membership of the EEC so we could be bailed out of a hundred years of st decisions by ex Etonians and other assorted dheads. Looks like Iceland is doing the same. Oh the irony if they discover oil....
