Fascinating isn't it?

They f*ck up their own elections, probably through fraud, their people protest at the mockery their "democracy" has become, protestors are killed by security forces as Iran's leaders try to suppress a revolt against their hard-line fundamentalism and we, yes we here in Blighty are apparently to blame for all this.

This pretty much sums up the whole middle east problem in my opinion.

This is a region that has massive oil wealth, and should have provided excellent standards of living for its people. But it hasn't. Through massive mismangement, the rigid following of arcane and antiquated religious doctrine and general incompetence and corruption, the mad mullahs have screwed their countries up.

So rather than accept any blame for this, or address the fact that religious law may not be perfect, they blame the great satan in the West.

And this time we can see it being done in broad daylight, in real-time.

Your thoughts?

The middle east was the cradle of western civilisation. It should have been the one of the most prospurose areas in the world (if not the most). Something went wrong (cough - religion - cough) and the area essentially remained in the dark ages. And you now have modern technology in the hands of governments that still have a dark age mentality.

This purile posturing also rubber-stamps the fact that electoral fraud took place, something that has been hard to get evidence for (even though we all suspected it happened).

Nothing to do with Religion, why is it PH people seem to have a thing about religion ?

Iran has been ruined by the same things that cause us stress, greed (money, women, land etc), human nature, desire for power . . . look at Tony Bliar . . . greedy, wanted power and would do anything to get/keep it.

Same in Iran, America, Israel, any country. It's worse when there isn't an established domocratic system of elected representatives.

But it's all down to the same causes . . . nothing to do with Religion.

Would that not be the same way Brown blamed the financial crisis on the US?

It takes a very enlightened regime to stand up and say 'okay, we're in the wrong, the people shall have their way'

It's why we've not had a General Election despite the most unpopular Government since the Normans arrived.

Iran... almost a dictatorship with a man enforcing unwanted policies & views onto the population who possibly didnt vote for him.

UK... almost a dictatorship with a man enforcing unwanted policies & views onto the population who definately didnt vote for him.

Yes agree with all of that except when you say "should have provided excellent standards of living for its people" Thats pot calling kettle really. Our elected tossers like Thatcher simply threw our oil money away on unemployment benefits. Then Blair blew it on way to 5 co-cordinators. Now Brown is pissong it down the drain on some crap banks that should have gone to the wall.

Apart from that yes the Allah crap must go.

"There was a time when religion was responsible for the running of Europe. It was called the dark ages".
