Equalities commission goes after the BNP
Discussion
Much as I don't have any time for them, I am scratching my head wondering why the equalities commission is going after them when there are no end of organizations where you can only join if you're black, disabled, gay etc.
Very possible that I simply don't understand how the law is applied in these cases, but it does seem rather like double standards?

I was only half listening to the interview on radio4 but I think the gist of the argument was that yes, you can have pro gay groups, black police officer associations; white Blackburnians against the bomb etc. to promote the interests of certain sections of the community, but the rules were different for politics, which does seem to tie up with this from the Telegraph website

"The Commission said that it was concerned that they and the party's local councillors did not intend to provide their services on an equal basis to all constituents irrespective of race or colour."

I think the main difference between the BNP and other groups which act for a single demographic in society is that the BNP are exclusive where others are inclusive, and welcome anyone who supports their cause.

Sounds to me like a way of just getting at the BNP by the leftie EU.Very possible that I simply don't understand how the law is applied in these cases, but it does seem rather like double standards?
Nick Griffin made a right prat of himself in that Channel 4 interview.
"There's no such thing as a black Welshman".
I suspect there are a few blacks that were born in Wales and had a Welsh parent that consider themselves to be both black and Welsh.
There was also some stuff about Anglo-Saxons and only allowing people who were descendants of those that were here before 1066, or some crap.
I don't think he's read much history.

if thats the case its doesn't say much about Cambridge, unless he dropped the history and then studied law. Quote from their website
''Nick Griffin was born in Barnet and grew up in Halesworth in rural Suffolk, England.
Initially educated at two Suffolk private schools, St Felix School (in Southwold) and Woodbridge School, Nick studied history and then law at Downing College, Cambridge and boxed while at Cambridge and was awarded a full blue for representing the University against Oxford three years running, losing the first year on points and winning in the next two with first round stoppages.
Nick graduated with an honours degree in Law.''

So bending over backwards for pikeys and providing them with rubbish skips, toilets, ignoring planning laws and all other manners of services when they set up an illegal camp is treating everyone equally exactly how.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politic...
