ETA: Are people really taken in by this blatant crap? If I were 'Middle England', this sort of thing would put me off him even more.

Maybe he'll inadvertantly mention how he saved the world with his right hand man Jesu.. erm, I mean Obama. Got to say it irks me a bit, too. Reporting news is one thing, but politicians shouldnt be on other TV shows.
Though wasnt Margaret Thatcher on kids TV once once, when a kid phoned in & asked her some really sensitive question about either the Falklands or the Nuclear Deterrent? Other politicians have had their own TV shows, and numerous show up on HIGNFY to try & improve their status, so it's hardly unique.

Sadly with the average IQ in the UK being sub 100 it is entirely possible that such obvious tactics could work.
Next he will be inviting people from popular TV programmes to join him in government.... oh wait a minute
If McBrown elevated the Eastenders cast to the peerage he could appoint them all AND save on the cost of second homes. The man is a genius, lets do away with elections altogether.

I have to say that in principle, I approve of politicians going on other programmes than the news and current affairs shows. Fact is, a heck of a lot of people don't watch those shows, they get their current affairs info from GMTV and Loose Women. Politicians should be putting their views and policies across in a place where people will actually hear them.
By the same token, the more Winky is on the telly, the more people get to see what a complete gimp he is.

Understandable winky should go on songs of praise
He is going to be mighty pissed off when he discovers this God person they are praising isn't actually him
What's mightily funny as that I would expect the demographic population of Songs of Praise viewers to be past middle age and right bang in the middle of Tory voter heartland. He is going to be mighty pissed off when he discovers this God person they are praising isn't actually him
There'll be hundreds of thousands of white haired, slightly well-off pensioners throwing their leather slippers at the telly in disgust.
