http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8102179.stm Are they actually serious about this?? Giving licence fee money over to the commercial sector? Surely this defeats the whole idea of the licence fee, even the BBC themselves say this is a breach of contract between them and us the licence payer. If this goes ahead I for one certainly wont be paying it again. What say you?

completely agree with you.

I'm all for spreading the wealth if it means other channels will adopt a 'no cemmercials' approach during programs.

But to spread the fee's and still allow commercials....that outrageous!

The cunning bds. You see what they're doing?

"But I don't watch BBC. Why should I pay for a TV Licence???"
"The money goes to all TV stations, so pay up. Oh, and it's now £475 per year."

Heard about them talking about this ages ago and I completely agree!

Seemed to be basically down to advertising revenues being down during these 'difficult times' so C4 etc needed some help - sounds like a government bailout in disguise.

I for one will not be paying it.

Or more importantly, the Government become a source of funding for all the news channels. Can anyone spot any conflicts of interest?

Has Mandelson been to Burlisconi's house for tea in the past week?

This is probably the weasel way of avoiding the cessation of the licence fee, which is what should actually happen.

what a complete joke, the words fraud scandal and corruption come to mind...their giving tv tax fee to private companies to compete better with the wasteful public company...what a crock of st....privatise the waster company and let the market decide which of them survives....
