A young schoolboy was knocked off his bike and died recently, the local rag has jumped on the bandwagon and printed a story at the 'fury over parked cars at scene of accident'. Because, you know how it is after these tragic accidents, people should suddenly not park anywhere near the vicinity of them

Here's the story:

http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/blackpoolnews/Fu...

BUT, that's not what I really wanted to bring to your attention, what is amusing are the comments by a 'Robert' starting on page 2 where he calls all 4x4 drivers 'scum', 'child killers' and then says they're as bad as 'child rapists'. I thought members of PH might like to put him straight?

The story itself is a non-story as I don't see why people should suddenly stop parking due to an unfortunate accident.

ETA: Bah, someone deleting the comments, shame.

Arguing with idiots is a waste of time.

It's not like they will suddenly say 'oh yeah, you're right and I was completely wrong'

He's back, I do have to wonder what mental health issues people must have to believe stuff like this:

Anyone who drives a 4x4 is be definition arrogant scum and deserves all the abuse they can get, period.

Bullying, thug like mentality, why else buy a massive gas guzzler? to bully people and intimdate other road users, no respect for human life nor the enviroment, just retards who think they can bully others.

4x4 driver/owner = paedophile and should be judged as such and treated as such.

you tend to get the idea he doesn't like 4x4's....

Lets face it I was tailgated (briefly) by a Prius the other day, but by his standards that must have actually been mother teresa at the wheel!

None, absolutely none. The story says 'people are forced onto the road' because of cars half parked on the kerb and on the road. That's rubbish, there's plenty of space to pass.

As mentioned in one comment, the pavement is 3m wide, so plenty room for pedestrians even if a car parked completely on the pavement

'Robert' obviously has problems with 4x4s, despite him admitting he doesn't actually have a car himself - tosser of the 1st degree

"A local shopkeeper, who witnessed the accident which led to Ben losing his life, called on the council to introduce double yellow lines near his shop.

Siva Kumar, who owns Warton News, said: "Every day dozens of cars park outside the shop, on the pavements. "

He must be one smart cookie. I wonder if he realises they are his customers, and his desired double yellows will kill his trade off.

That's a fight for another day. He'll have a petition running to fight against the Council 'Nazis' closing down small businesses.

I've clicked on a few of 'Robert's' submissions to report them unsuitable - they seem to be disappearing quite rapidly :-)

So he had to ride his bike on the road, not on the pavement?

FFS - he shouldn't be on the pavement anyway!!

I thought you weren't allowed to cycle on the footpaths anyway.

Actually, he rode out between two parked cars (I assumed he wasn't looking or he wouldn't be dead) into an oncoming vehicle. Naturally cars and drivers are the villains in all this.

When I was at school we had this thing called the "Green Cross Code".

Among other things, it taught me that as a small child, motorists would have trouble spotting me if I emerged from between parked cars. It taught me to stop, look, and listen before stepping into the path of traffic.

I was taught that I was responsible for my own safety, even if the person who killed me was in the wrong.

Looking at the behaviour of children near roads these days, they are being taught the complete opposite. More than once I've had the little idiots deliberately place themselves in my path, just to force me to brake.

Once someone's 'as bad as <random wedge issue here>' there's not much point debating

I feel it may of been killed of under the health and safety banner

As imagine the following situation. You teach young (insert chav name) the green cross code and he then a few days later runs out and under a car. I can easily see a situation where you are in court trying to prove you thought the kid properly and if you can't prove it then it is your fault. No win no fee your fked

Much easier to not teach anyone the green cross code in the first place
