It is very disturbing to me that I may have missed a local election because the effectivley second most powerfull man/person in government has obviously been voted in whilst I was making a cup of tea!!!

Can anyone out there explain to me in simple terms how a man/person who has been proven dishonest, not once but twice!! Can now hold this post without either you or me voting him in, or did I in fact miss the by election.

I thought the title Lord was bestowed on the wise and good of this country, not as a tool to get your worst threat on side! My friend was at university with this man/person and says he is one of the cleverest men/people he has ever met. It is a pity that all that intelligence is concentrated on self promotion, but that seems to be the norm in our government ( no matter what party! )

This Lord is bright enough to realise that Gordon et al is going to lose the next election, and he has his eyes on the next one after that. When HeyPresto he has the top job. Has there been a time in history when a PM has got there without being elected in by the voting public?

The top and bottom of this is that I despair of what is going on, but we are helpless to do anything. This article on the BBC is part of the master plan!!!

I just needed to vent this, and would welcome comments from anyone who feels the same.

You'll be getting a knocking on your door at three in the morning old bean!

p.s. I agree - it is unacceptable and sinister: Kinnock, Adonis, Mandelson, et al; all unelected and unaccountable. It stinks.

You don't think Lefties give a stuff for democracy do you? Freedoms and Rights are only for those they agree with. And the same goes for voting. Don't want to let the great unwashed vote, after all, they might give the wrong answer (see Lisbon treaty for details).

Fair point, I don't think Gordon realises it though
