Nick Griffin was to hold a press conference outside Parliament but was prevented from doing so by the left wing rent-a-crowd who thought throwing eggs at him was smart.

We do still live in a democracy and whether the BNP is your flavour or not, he received almost a million votes in the euro elections. If these left wing idiots want to promote the BNP cause, this seems like as good a way as any to do so. If you stifle political debate you drive it underground where it festers and comes back to bite you on the arse as terrorism. If what Griffin has to say is so abominable, then this will drive voters away. If you egg him you alienate the million votes he already has and very probably increase his support. So vote for somebody else if you don't like his message don't play into his hands by bringing the opposition into serious disrepute.

Absolute idiots.

The only way to get rid of Nick Griffin and the BNP is to persuade voters that other parties are more worthy of their vote.

I think mainstream politicians have to understand why people voted for the BNP, first. Or rather, why they didn't bother voting for the big parties and so the BNP's minority vote really counted this time round.

Bit of a waste of eggs TBH.
Though they are a legitamate party unfortunately.

On a similar note why is it he BNP party website is blocked at work for most and membership is not allowed for many workforces when other parties ones are not?
Surely that is actually illegal.

It's either a legitimate party or they should be disallowed in the first place?

But you can guarantee if someone was to pelt the "Unite against Racism" bloke whos on the telly at the moment with eggs, when he left the sky studio, they'd be arrested for a race crime.
Exactly the kind of stuff the BNP is going on about.

They're just playing into the BNPs hands at the moment.

Nick Griffin will never quite make the BNP legit - he claims not to be racist but doesn't allow people who aren't ethnically white to join.

If the next guy to run it got the current membership to accept British people of any race the BNP could become genuinely dangerous politically.

There again - that will probably be the day I see rare Gloucester Old Spots flying outside my office window.

Nick Griffin got his MEP seat with fewer votes than last time. More to do with complete apathy towards politics or at least the Euro elections which many people see no point with.

Everyone who voted BNP should be sent back home i.e. placed in a used condom and discarded into a rubbish bin, which is where they ought to have ended up in the first place. biggrin

Many of the posters here seem to have missed the point entirely. If you stifle a legitimate political party you turn it into something far more sinister. Nick Griffin would have paid money to have this bunch of "self appointed vigilantes", cause this amount of sympathetic publicity for his cause. A recurring theme seems to be that his voters were mostly protesting against the main parties. If you believe that clap trap you should listen to the people being interviewed by the media who feel they have been abandoned by NuLabour. What we should be doing is giving the BNP blanket coverage for their views. Let them defend them and where they are seen to be deficient, expose them. If their voters are voicing concerns which should be addressed by the mainstream parties then they can bring this "disenfranchised" group into the fold. Celebrating violence against a political party is idiotic and does not begin to tackle the issues which have delivered so many votes to Griffin and his party.

It wouldnt matter, as there didnt appear to be anyone available to check licenses or uphold laws. I thought it was a disgrace it was allowed to happen, and then continue - regardless of people's views on the BNP

ETA apparently it's a mainstream conspiracy!

It's just a shame that people don't do this to Labour politicians?
