It occurs to me that if *people* were to write the simple word "GO" in all sorts of public places the media would definitely pick this up. It could be written ANYWHERE, including roads, pavements, walls. It would send a message that we have had anough and want a change. I for one am getting completely disillusioned by the fact that nothing anybody says to them makes them realise that it's time to GO. shoutears

By the way, I'm suggesting writing this in chalk, not painted graffiti. Nobody wants anarchy...

Would the chalk be from an ethically managed source ?
You think that this would do the trick and force them to pack their bags ?

It wouldn't do any good. The government know public opinion is well against them and they just don't care. They'll be hanging on until the grim end.

I wondered about someone getting a petition together and approaching the Queen with it. Surely if there were a few million signatories, HMQ would be inclined to consider dissolving Parliament?

Are you kidding ? The monarchy responding to the will of the people ?
She could'nt even be bothered to assert her wish to attend the D-Day ceremony on Saturday.

Is there one of those online petitions for #10 asking for a general election yet?

Well I for one promise that if I end up on the jury for that one I'll not convict.

May I gently remind you who is Commander-in-Chief of Britain's armed forces? You know, that person to whom the Oath of Allegiance is sworn?
On top of that, most of them feel she's a decent old stick at worst, but feel nothing but contempt for most politicians.
Thinking about it, a fairly benign absolute monarchy backed up by a professional and compassionate Army might be just the Government we need right now.
It at least has this in its favour : it's very cheap.
