He claimed that owning 2/3 of Lloyds Bank and having Lloyds repay £2n of aid this week was an example of radical government policy. Jim Naughtie had been letting him get away with talking bks for 10 minutes until he said this, but then he came good and asked whetherit had been government policy to have Lehmans go bust so that the government could take over Lloyds.

What an utter fool.

Unfortunately we are in the position where despite a big thrashing in the local and euro elections, nothing will change in our current government until next year.

They are all so very very stupid and doesn't it show now! However, they are in power and they will cling to this until they are removed by force.

We are going to be reading about/listening to a lot of stupidity over the next year. We are also going to be hearing such classic phrases as 'the publie have spoken, we must now listen (haven't you had 12 years to listen?)', 'Gordon is the best person to lead us through this global problem', 'people are blaming Labour for the expenses problem, but everyone has been doing it', etc etc.

No matter what we think, unless we all do something radical, this is how it will be for the next year. It makes me very sad indeed!

I thought Naughtie handled that interview terribly, he should have got control of the little st right from the start, but instead let him set his own agenda. Only 10% of people want Brown and the gubberment out? Good grief.

i'm scared to switch on the tv and hear the crap they are saying and the thought that some poor soul could be believing it stops me from sleeping...it makes me sick how they can just lie on tv to people...

only one decent honest labour female politician spoke out on the news about the culture of sleeze and slurring at downing street and i cant even remeber her name, she was overpowered silenced by the spin machine...

Jane Kennedy (Environment Minister)? She was on Newsnight last night being told by Paxman (the tt) that surely politics was a 'tough game' where you have to deal with slurs etc.

He then spent most of the interview telling an ex-Tory PR chap that there was no way he could pretend the Tories did not do this either.

Journalism at it's worst.

It has to be said, this bolus of onanists really make me miss the more overtly prinicpled Labour-ites of old. I may have vehmently disagreed with the views of Clare Short and Robin Cook but at least they genuinely seemed to believe what they were saying. The current crop of orifices perorating on the news are so obviously sticking to a script that I find it a bit insulting.

It was like listening to a PPB. The crap that guy was spouting just made me mad - they've had 12 years for God's sakes and where are we right now? Shame on the Brown Broadcasting Company (as usual). Didn't even bring on an opposition to argue the other side (and knowing the Beeb's hatred of the Tories they'd have tried their level best to get a Lib' Dem' on)

I was screaming at the radio: "FOR GOD'S SAKE, SHUT HIM UP!"

Naughtie let him talk for FAR too long.

I was shouting the same thing, using the F word instead, at traffic lights, with the window open.

No surprise. This is the same James Naughtie who famously asked Ed Balls (prior to the last general election); "If WE win the election, does Gordon Brown remain Chancellor?"

Great. rolleyes

In hindsight though, perhaps he was giving him enough rope to hang himself, cos he did sound like a dishonest, delusional dhead of the highest order.... scratchchin

Are we meant to be surprised by this?

Politico who you don't agree with speaks on radio, you shout, shut him up. Very balanced. Before you ask I don't support him either, but listening to him was like hearing him banging nails into his own coffin. Didn't need JN, or anyone else, to point that out and I'm sure most people, including you, as is obvious, didn't either.

The issue isnot that he was allowed to say things we disagree with, but that he was allowed to babble on unchallenged for ten minutes.

Again, are we to be surprised by this?

Had it been CMD or Hague etc.. then I am sure there would have been interruptions etc.. but that is not the case.

You're not going to hear Labour challenged on the Brown Broadcasting Corporation unless it's from the left.

BBC World Service is the only English speaking radio station I have here and it's so sickeningly left wing that I sometimes have to switch it off to avoid flying into a rage.

On Monday, Milliband said the following regarding the BNP's MEPs: (approx)

"We are supposed to live in a Democracy, it is unacceptable that people vote for the BNP"

The irony of that statement confirmed all I needed to know about this joker.
