The BBC notes that WinkyMcFN is currently rearranging his junior "deckchairs".

Hows about the moron gets on with attempting to run the country whilst he still has the chance?

Depending on what the PLP decide tonight, that chance might not last for quite as long as Gordo thinks..

I will be AMAZED if Gordon gets the boot. He's in for a rough ride, certainly, but I'm not sure they can replace him and remain in power.

I agree. Although I would love to see him booted out, I don't think anyone will put themselves forward for the job now. The Cabinet have closed ranks and pledged their support to Brown.

My bet is on Gordon & Labour hanging onto power for as long as possible and hoping people forget about what's happened this year. They will be hoping the economy starts to rise again late this year/start of next so they can hop on the back of it.

Its last chance saloon for the plotters they need to stand up tonight and tell Brown as it is or shut up. They are banking on the fact that 70 odd won't say or do anything. If thats the case Labour will effectively be on a life support machine until a GE next year.

I think if Brown isn't gone by Tues/Wed then he will have survived.

Even the Guardian is screaming for him to go, in a vain attempt to save their beloved party from utter destruction:

Of course they could be right, hoofing out Gordon and replacing him with A N Other for 10 months may well save the Labour party but I'm still pretty confident that it won't stop an absolute kicking by the electorate next year.

Trouble is it would increase calls for a general election and the Labour MPs will not give up their posts early if they can help it I suspect.

Going on his record of the last twelve years, a few months of Brown not actually paying attention to the country and the economy is hardly going to be more harmful than his active involvement and could even be beneficial.

Unfortunately that is so true, things might actually improve if he is not actively fiddling with them.

yes I've often said that anyone could be a better PM than Brown. All you'd have to do is nothing.

Is it me.. Or does anyone else think that McWinky's response over and over again, that he will get on with his job, sorting out the MP's expenses fiasco and sorting the Global Economic Climate is really wearing thin...?
curse

We've had enough - Going on repeatedly about the Con party not having any policies and laughing at the Libs.

Get on with Running the country, Police, Education, Health, Roads, Unemployment, Small Businesses, The Judicial system and TAXATION reductions....

Has all this been put on Hold whilst McWinky tries to keep his party and Job in Government. I don't hear much on the news about Labias policies and what they are doing..

shout Get on with your Job..

Thing is, when they're actually doing something, it usually costs money, makes things worse for nearly everyone, or does both.

Seeing as the country seems to get along well enough as it is without Brown&Co's constant itinerant fiddling, I'm actually much happier now all their time is taken up re-arranging the few remaining ministers still sloshing around in the increasingly leaky cabinet.
