more seriously, this is beginning to be a reall consititutional issue: the Prime Minister is supposed to be the MP who has the confidence of the House and can form a government. Brown has the former by default because Labour MPs don't want to be on the dole, but he cannot do the latter without bringing in people who are not elected and were not in the electorate's contemplation when just enough idiots amongst them voted Labour in 2005.
