With immediate effect, that means a by election.

Norwich North, 2005 General Election results:

Labour 21097
Con 15638
LD 7616

Majority 5459

So a 18% Lab to Con swing will win it

Excellent, another opportunity for Labour to find some balls and get rid of Winky if they bottle it this time.

This guy has had the whip withdrawn (whatever sado-masochistic event that describes). He is pretty pissed at his own party and should cause an earlyish bye election.

Yep feels he was singled out over his expenses claims, think it was something to do with his 2nd home not actually being his abode.

Good on him for stepping down now and thus forfeiting the golden parachute. He may well have been a grasping , but at least he's done one correct thing in his career.

Telegraph said:
Mr Gibson was already preparing to stand down after he admitted using his parliamentary expenses to pay for his daughter’s London home — before selling it to her for half its market value.

Mr Gibson faces accusations of a cover-up after The Daily Telegraph found he spent almost £80,000 of taxpayers’ money on a west London flat that his daughter, Helen, shared with her boyfriend.

He said that the claims were legitimate, as he was staying at the address three nights a week, but acknowledged last night that the arrangement may seem "unfair" to voters.

That means a least a month of media attention. All of it bad for Labour.
