I know. Lets get some poxy little quango set up and ban goggles for kids in swimming pools. Why not just ban swimming in case they get wet?

Three children have been withdrawn from swimming lessons as a result. So no eye injuries, they just die to death instead... banghead

It is all rather sad. I wonder what the familiy of the 9 year old drowned last week in the area make of the kids being banned from swimming lessons.

I don't know about you, but I simply cannot open my eyes underwater. It stings too much.

To prevent injuries if the elastic snaps back too hard??

I bet the people who banned them have done so because when they were children they were deeply unpopular (like they are today) and were picked on by the other children who regularly snapped their swimming goggle elastic back to hurt them. So they think they are doing a good deed for other future Labour councillors.

It all started going down hill when they banned girls tucking their skirts into their blue knickers to do netball.

S'pose these days, wouldn't work with "G" strings, or would it whistle

Off the top of my head those that need glass's and have prescription ones or more likely those that can't swim and are terrified of the water to start with.

it says they're allowed for those with medical reason, I'm assuming that means anyone who really can't see anything can use special goggles, but breaking news, you can't see much underwater even if you don't need glasses

the sort of geeks who are terrified of the water should just toughen up

if they fall in a river, they have to get someone to throw them some goggles before they can save themselves?

Strangly enough, without my glasses, everything more than 1 mtr away is a blur, with my swimming goggles, I can see the entire length of the swimming bath from one end to the other.

I think seals have the same fate, blind on the surface, good vision underwater, its the way water refracts water or something like that.

But as already said, without goggles, it don't half sting the eyes.
