Taking a big red pen to the Quangos and 5 a Day Co-ordinators and other non-jobs in Govt. They HAVE to reduce the size of the state and the outgoings.

Abolish all the laws that the Nu Laba passed in the last 10 years or so.

Can't agree more.

I dread to think what the genuine state of the finances is!

This will be a very tough and difficult process but it is what is necessary.

The State must be downsized - and that means a reduction in jobs. People's lives will be affected.

But there's no other choice.

I also suspect they will repeal a few laws that have proved to be useless or unenforceable.

They will most certainly lambast the previous administration publicly like every other incoming government.

Nope. Politicians live for power. It's even better getting to do it in the st times because then you have to exercise it more...

freeze all pay increases in the public sector regardless of precious arranged deals (blame winky for the hardship they are all going to face.) Then work out what non-essential things can be scrapped to save some money (id cards/nhs computer systems etc.) Renegociate a lot of government projects to remove all the bonus structures so you pay a price for a project and if the price qoted doesn't match the supplier looses out not the public making up the difference. Then set about getting rid of the non-jobs.
