Apparently Alistair Darling will remain as chancellor (according to BBC News 24), as if he didn't get it he'd resign.
So. Dishonest Darling gets to keep his job because there's no-one left to do it, otherwise.Brown will not go willingly.
I have no idea how this will pan out. General Election now? General Election next June? No way to know. Fantastic entertainment. Rats deserting sinking ship.
I reckon the Telegraph have enough material to keep on going for a while...they're not going to let up until they get a result I'd say...

My 2p is that if Brown isnt forced out by the rest of the scum party, then he'll hang on until the very end, abusing every rule and law to ensure he stays in no.10 as long as possible to ensure that his "vision" is transfered into law...........and we all know how that's going to work out for everybody AndrewW-G said:

Just to revisit Camerons performance at PMQT this week. His said the Government was in meltdown and asked the PM if he could guarantee that no more ministers would resign before the re shuufle.
in light of Purnell that looks a pretty accurate charge to make. Not Camerons fault if Brown in pathlogically incapable of answering a straight question.

Alan Johnson is the new home secretary.
Recent history suggests that this is a posioned chalice. My big concern, if I was a Labour man, would be how the Prince of Darkness fits into all of this. He is effectively now the Kingmaker, the position he always coveted bar one, Foreign Secretary.
Mandy really wanted that job and his Blairite pals have scuppered it.
What will he do?
You know how in business, to find the true power, they always say "follow the money".
With Labour right now, I think "Watch the Mandy" is the best course of action.
Johnson hasn't helped himself either by declaring to the cameras that he would do a worse job than Broon. Talk about giving future enemies a loaded gun!
One positive aspect of all this is A Darling. Darling now knows Gordon is out to get him. We have another rift between 10 and 11. Hopefully, AD will now begin to deal with his job with only his legacy as a concern. Expect more blocking of GB's crazy bailouts etc. What goes around, comes around eh.
I am loving this, firmly in the knowledge that nobody or no new leader can now save Labour from destruction.
