Is there an law expert on here? Preferably someone who practices European law, perhaps in the Human rights area?

Our politicians are unlikely to put their own house in order.

Is there any possible legal action that could be bought at the European level in relation to the MP's expenses?

Has any human rights violation been committed by the misappropriation of taxpayers money?

A duty of care not properly discharged?

In short, could UK taxpayers band together and bring a class action against MP's involved in improper expenses claims at a European Court?

If there were a reasonable chance of success, I'm sure we could have a whip round and hire legal counsel.

Who wants to see the corrupt MP's in Court?

Uh, you are aware that the EU has not signed off it's accounts for over ten years due to corruption??

You REALLY think such a place is going to stamp down on expense fraud? Our MPs look like rank amateurs in comparison to the EU.

Yes, I was aware of that thanks.

The difference is that there are plenty of internal tensions within the EU. Plenty of European countries would be quite happy to see our government embarrassed.

If the legislation is there, then perhaps we could use it. I doubt we could go directly for expenses fraud.

We need a little lateral thinking. If we can think of a Human Right that has been infringed then we can consider action to enforce it.

The European Court of Human Rights has nothing to do with the EU.

Our guys look like rank amateurs compared with most of Europe, to be honest. I can't see anyone else within the European ruling strata wanting to get involved in this...
