Not quite so sure it's disgusting a sport...
Playing Devil's advocate a little here, but it's supposedly to be done in respect for the beast. You won't see many people pleased at a bull fight if the matador doesn't deliver the final blow sucessfully.
Some years ago I was chatting to a Spaniard about "bullfighting". He said it was more respectful that a beast should die with a chance of retribution than simply have a bolt put through it's brain.
Whilst I don't feel a great deal of remorse for the matador. I don't believe it's very fair to wish death or injury on him. Misguided or not he is a human being and human life is worth far more than cattle.

Utter bks. The kind of crap that animal torturing sadists come up with to try and excuse or justify their revolting activities.Playing Devil's advocate a little here, but it's supposedly to be done in respect for the beast. It is not even a "sport". It is a slow killing of an animal in the name of sport, tormenting it and causing substantial unnecessary suffering in the process. Whilst I abhor banning everything, this to my mind is one situation where a ban is appropriate. Animals should not suffer in this way. Yeah I can understand why you would believe that and I appreciate you not trying to lynch me. I still remain a fence sitter though.
IMO, Concepts of morality differ by culture. I don't agree with bull fighting as such but I also feel that if they consider it "dying with honour", then supporters of this bloodsport aren't bad people. They're simply misguided.
Whilst I'm wary of projecting human thinking on animals. I'd rather die fighting the impossible fight than be sedated and "bolt-gunned". Although I, like the bull, would prefer neither.
As mentioned, if it is a sport, at least it's one nil to the bull.

I don't think the winning bull is allowed to toddle off and live on an island somewhere with some well endowed cows...Edited by G_T on Friday 29th May 15:53

NP with the Devil's advocate stance per se - but I personally find this activity repulsive.Whilst I don't wish ill on the animal torturer (That would be Bad Karma), I do feel that the fker got what he deserved.
It's a shame that this will mean that our hispanic neighbours will venerate their bull-stabbers even more.
