Quite incredible! Imagine the changes in the world they have seen. They were married the year after the first talking picture was made, before the Great Depression, before the jet engine....

It goes on an on.

Astonishing.

Good on them, great to see a genuinely happy couple, still in love and still going strong. Does the heart good in such a cynical world biggrin

He could have killed her, remarried, and killed the next one, and served less time.

Whenever I read these sorts of stories, I'm always reminded of Billy Connelly's "Every step of the way" joke.

It's interesting to ponder why marriages don't last these days, and whether society will ever return to such stability.

"The pair, who said there was no "magic secret" to a happy marriage, met at a YMCA dance"

I guess the Village people did a cover of an old 1920's song then, bet that's a bugger.

Isn't this the couple, who when celebrating their 75th anniversary were asked the following question;

"So what makes for such a long marriage"

He answered, " Just two words..................................... Yes, dear"
