Didn't he run a burger van for years?

Is he just desperate for attention?

Given that Winky doesnt have a financial or managerial background & prescott was a waiter on a cross channel ferry I think he'd be in good company if he joined labour smile

Oh dear.

From a bunch of politically experienced, if morally bankrupt to ‘celebrity’ government.

Why can’t people tell the difference between the House of Parliament and the big brother house?

What makes people think that because they once helped someone competent (a record company boss) make money, they are qualified to oversee the Civil Service running of the country?

It isn’t essential to have someone with a financial or business management background. That is the job of the Civil Service.

Morals, political sense, oratory and leadership skill, however are important.

It’s difficult to see how being an ex-singer qualifies.

Or is this just yet another sad attempt to attract publicity for a comeback/reunion tour.

Living in the same town as him, I can confirm he is really a sad has-been, desperate for publicity. His behaviour on and off screen is a little, how shall we say, bizarre.

Nothing will come of this.

Quite possibly, but I suspect his membership of the Conservative Party may count against him.

I'm sure CMD would be only too keen to have another publicity hound around though. And if he ever actually stood and won (god forbid) he'd only be replacing another corrupt Tory.

This is the type of thing that could happen. Celebs and media people have already, to a large extent, become the "known" figures of our generation. On the whole, they are more "trusted" than our politicians (which isn't saying that much when you see how loathed the politicians are).

There is a good chance that at least some constituencies will end up with "Independent" media types replacing the tradional MP.
It's the "Martin Bell Effect" at work.
