Chinese bridge jumper gets a push

Did anyone else spot this on the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8064...

A suicidal jumper on a bridge caused traffic to be stopped for 5 hours, eventually someone got annoyed at him, broke through the police cordon, shook hands with the man, and then pushed him off the bridge!! He landed on an airbag they had put out below so he is now recovering in hospital.

Or will the pusher get done for GBH or assault or something similar? The article says the bag wasn't fully inflated so the 'jumper' suffered spine and elbow injuries.

Reminds me of the start of Lethal Weapon as well, where Mel Gibson jumps off the building with the guy onto the airbag

I think that on balance if all sucide attempts were treated like this then it would be a good thing; anyone who actually wants to commit suicide will find it easier having some help from random passers by, whilst attention wes will have to find something better to do.

Reminds me of a time on the newsgroup alt.suicide.holiday. Someone posted how they lived in some American city and wanted to end their life. The regular posters located a good bridge he could use. Well, what did he expect with a title like "alt.suicide.holiday"? Compassion?

I don't think you will be 100% autopsy material but there is a strong chance you'd be crippled etc..

Far better to go a lot higher if you want to succeed...........
