William Hague was always under-estimated. Got the wrong job at the wrong time.

As for Charles Kennedy - he was, and probably still is, a drunk.

It's very sad that is most probably true about Charles Kennedy. Whenever I see him it's obvious that despite his 'issue' he has a razor-sharp understanding of politics and a way of getting to the frikkin' point!

Has Hague ever spoken about why he took the Leader's job at such a young age? I for one never understood why he risked everything so early in his career.

Agree - during the debate about who would stand for the next mayor of London a few years ago, he said:

Well Id say Hague is the most talented Politician in the Tory party, Mandy is every bit his equal in Labour. I dislike Mandy intensely, but I thoroughly respect he is a superb politician.
