What I can never understand in so many of these cases is why the mother feels she has to tell the children "as soon as they're old enough to understand". You see it all the time: bloke ends up in prison for rape/murder, and the mother keeps all the newspaper cuttings and intends to tell the children as soon as they're "old enough". What purpose does it serve? Why do they need to know? Children are innocent for such a short time as it is.

The problem is, how do you define what the "right age" is? I suppose it depends on the individual. Or do you reckon the children should never know?

As for sgirl's comment, couldn't agree more, it seems to me that children are forced to "gorw up" far too quickly now, childhood hardly seems precious anymore.

Don't cats on heat tout their 'wares' around all of the estate toms to try and get the best sample of Harry Monk for their eggs - and hence can have different fathers for offspring from the smae litter.

Maybe she agreed not to be "exclusive" - but sure as eggs is eggs if one of them had 'something' they probably all have it now.

Not a problem for me - as my taxes provide high quality nursing staff at the neo-natal unit - whilst yours will pay for their free prescriptions to treat "The Itch".

Coincidentally there was a program on the radio in Florida last week that said that in something like 1 in every 200 cases of non-identical twins, different fathers are involved.

was not surprised at this, knew a lady who had 5 kids, the father of 2 of them were known, the rest were a guess of 20+ and she was genuinely puzzled why I did not want to give her one there and then...
