Not sure if this is a repost; but I think this is pretty funny. No discernable income? Then where did you get your bling? biggrin

FFS!

Because this is a really effective use of police time!

Just how they propose to police this is beyond me! How are they going to prove that the 'bling' was earnt through criminal activity!

What about a woman wearing diamond earings etc, does that count as bling?

"I saw a few MP's have nice watches.....wonder where they got the money for them. Hmmm.....oh officer!!!!"

Is the area mentioned in this report a particularly "bad" section?

It's all beginning to sound depressingly "East German" isn't it? Have they set up the "grass your neighbour in 'cos yoy don't like them" groups yet...

No, its not, Gloucestershire as a county is beautiful, one of the nicest places to live in the UK. Gloucester itself is a bit grotty in places and viewed as Cheltenhams poorer cousin but its not Northern, which is where the real bleakness starts.

Yes, take your pick from Crimestoppers or any of the Benefits Fraud hotlines.

What i want to know is how they expect members of the public to differentiate between real and fake 'bling' before they start grassing up every man and his dog.

Gloucestershire as Plotty said is a beautiful county. The city of Gloucester is a st tip and should be nuked. Everywhere else is an area of outstanding natural beauty. When it rains a lot Tewkesbury even gets it's own moat FOC!

Bugatti owners club is here, I'm here, the motor museum in Bourton on the water is home to Brum as well, epic stuff.

If the police want to go ahead & do this that's fine with me. They can begin in Weatherspoons as that's always got the same people stood outside of it day & night.

It's a joke though!

Talk about taking away our freedoms!

We are now judging people by what they are wearing? Are they going to hassle everybody with jewelery? What if it's fake items they are wearing made to look like the real thing?

C'mon, this is surely a big joke!!! It has to be....otherwise we are heading for some serious problems! As if we aren't already living under a state that likes to interfere in all our lives enough! This is beyond a step too far.

Nope. It's a police/crimestoppers initiative.

The campaign is designed to target those who have no job, are on benefits and somehow have a brand new m3 parked on the driveway. Most criminals who are making money do not keep wads of cash about but buy new cars and sell them on to launder the cash. They purchase televisions they sell on etc.

If you live and work in an area its fairly obvious that certain persons are actively involved in crime and seem to have lavish lifestyles. The proceeds of crime act allows forces to tackle the criminal at their door and hit them where it hurts. Some individuals have people 'working' for them and are hard to link to individual crimes.

By going for their money and property you are targeting the 'proper' criminals , those who organise and those who handle the stolen goods or supply the drugs. Not the two a penny idiots.
