Interesting thought, one for McEric to advise on?

She said that she had sent a cheque to the Inland Revenue for the £13k in CGT that she was supposedly now liable for.

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but unless she actually re does her entire tax form for that year and re-submits it wouldn't that £13k simply sit on her account as a credit for 08/09 that she will be refunded at the end of the tax year as an overpayment?

100% correct.

She needs to reclaculate her Capital Gains Tax liability and submit the revised figures to HMRC on a "Repaired" tax return.

Otherwise, the Revenue will just hold her money "in credit" for offset against future tax liabilities (and she'll receive tax free interest on the overpaid amount until then).

If the baying mob is right then she will have to redo the forms showing that she is liable but if she is right and doesn't owe anything then I guess you're right and it will be refunded later.

+1. This Country must surely be a better place eventually with contrite, humble and honest leaders in place. What scum they currently are.

I'm finding it all quite depressing actually, we must be even more of a global laughing stock now. Don't forget we voted these thieves in to change the rules and bend them as they please

It'll all be allright if we all learn to speak Italian.

Funny you should write that - I've just got off the phone to my boss in Italy, and he was making fun of what's happening in the UK right now, saying "And you had the nearve to joke abour OUR government"!

He has a point....

Try being married to one. That's been the only downside to this whole fantastic fiasco.

hehe

And there was me, always claiming the moral high ground when talking about politics - the only difference was, it transpires, is that the Italians (MP's) were/are a lot more honest about their ineptitude and corruption!

It's a matter of deep personal distress to have to admit I went to the same sixth form college as the vile ginger monstrosity.

As a matter of urgency, please note that I have absolutely no recollection of her at the college as she's 8 years older than me and the college was never intended to be a place to stay for more than three years at most...

there was always that odd smell of not-really-contriteness to the place though, as far as I recall... and some odd graffiti which read "Flabby Ginger Twunt Blears Is Not Fit For Political Office" that never made much sense at the time...

At least Chris Eccleston was the college at the same time as my sister, who says he was a bit intense even by Eccles College standards and even for an actor from Salford.
