This one could be a real goody and worth it's own seperate thread - if they have nothing to hide, then why have they got an injunction out?

Can we even discuss it ?

Do they actually have an injunction? I've only read rumors that there might be one. I can't see what grounds they might be granted one.

Reporter on local BBC tv has just said they had their affairs picked over and were given a clean bill of health. Seems pointless them seeking an injunction though others may be more eager.

Well Mandy has a permanent injunction forbidding the press from mentioning his domestic "arrangements" so anything is possible with this lot.

As they got clean bills of health, so they have nothing to risk by getting an injunction. Claiming Human Rights act or whatever BS. Then others can follow.

There have been rumours about an injunction on Guido's blog for a while...

This not be a case of the accounts showing fiddling going on,but it might for example show one claming a hotel room which has allready been claimed by another MP,therefor proving an affair

Not that this would ever happen to our mp's who show such devotion to their constitents (sp)

I doubt you can get an injunction that forbids the press mentioning the injunction. Only the injuncted info would be prohibited.

The gossip blogs seem to think that the DT is using tomorrow's paper as a "couples special".

Given that Cooper and Balls have form when it comes to expenses fraud, speculation is rife that they are to be publically HDQ'd.

Some even think that Cameron sacked his man this morning to give Gordo no option but to kill off Balls when he is accused of similar crimes.

I am so excited by the sheer prospect of Balls getting his marching orders......woohoo!!

Of course, it may just be that they cleaned up their act after the last incident.

I don't really see on what grounds they could seek an injunction so long as any article stuck to facts surrounding taxpayers (i.e. public interest) money?

The political editor of DT has commented that there will be revelations of an equal magnitude to tomorrow.

MacKay has admitted it to be 8 or 9 years, so at up to £24K a year, shirly that must put it in 6 figures?

Yep when they get taken in for questioning they should have samples taken and kept on record for 12 years smile

And test them for drugs while they are at it.

Well, fraud in the light of what we have learned in the last week:

Not in the sense that they were actually prosecuted or anything. Sorry for the confusion, got a little carried away earlier with glee smile

They are both on this list.

Over £300k between them. Both claim 2nd homes allowance but looks like they split it between them?

"At one point, Miss Cooper and Mr Balls, the Children’s Secretary and a close ally of Gordon Brown, had their expenses docked, after each submitted two monthly claims for mortgage interest of nearly £1,300.

At the time, their mortgage statements showed the interest-only element of their mortgage stood at £733."
