So Cameron apologises this morning and now Brown copies. Does Brown do everything as a knee jerk reaction. This man is a disaster! No policies until after the horse has bolted. Every time!

Anything like this from Brown is total lip-service at best.

By my reckoning, were Brown to apologise publicly for all the things he should apologise for, it would take him about two months, allowing for some sleep, meal and toilet breaks.

Never mind Brown and Cameron apologising for the fact that their MP's are thieving parasites and no better than benefit cheats. How about paying the fking money back that they stole from us?

What's wrong here:

He also said: "I want to apologise on behalf of politicians on behalf of all parties for what has happened in the events of the last few days."

As far as I can see the only shadow cabinet minister caught up in this is the Commons leader Alan Duncan who recouped £4,000 for gardening costs for his home in the country. The guy who claimed £100 to change lightbulbs is a non-issue IMO, there are many bulbs which due to location, or type, are hard to change.

If there is only one Cameron could easily set a strong example by booting him out of the shadow cabinet and so increase the pressure on Labour.

He's only sorry they all got caught.

There is only one answer to this, and that's a General Election, along with whole-scale change to the system (ie pay increase, no expenses allowed).

Unless he's aware of his own misdemeanors becoming public?

"THE system of parliamentary expenses is a corrupt, scum-sucking, piece-of-st, bding thief, MPs insisted last night."

There is a valid principle here, in that MPs representing constituencies outside London, necessarily have to incur the costs of a second home.
A better solution may be a small pay rise and a government provided flat near Whitehall for all MPs who need it.

Expenses need to be dealt with the same way any normal business does it. And we need to get new MPs who can be trusted to run our country.

If the government are supplying a flat why would the MPs need a payrise...?

Why are so many people in favour of a pay rise? If these incompetents were forced to earn a living they would be minimum wage.

Didn't the English Civil War get rid of greedy self serving God like entities taking so much money, they almost brought England to financial ruin, in favour of selfless and accountable 'servants of the public'?

Seems we've come full circle. I am not sure if the people in power right now will ever be forgiven for this, they are so out of touch - even if they were completely honest and held their hands up, that would go some way into lessening the outrage. They are acting like cowardly school chrildren, the whole lot of them.

Because they are not paid the right salary based on jobs of equivalent stature and, moreover, it caps the cost. It has to be coupled with a significantly more robust expenses policy : one that copies what happens in business.

If the MP is doing his job to the right standard then I would expect them to be up there with Doctors, Accountants, Solicitors and so on. Obviously not the variants of these that earn the London megabucks but somewhere around the £100k mark. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys which is why we have what we have. Being an MP should be a very prestigious and important job but unfortunately the thieves we have now are all claiming too much in expenses and some even have other jobs too! All needs to stop.

Yes, they are already on far too much money.

Hasn't MPs pay doubled over the past 12 years?

If they've done nothing wrong then why is he apologising?
