All speculation (and the mirror have been known to talk cr4p just a tad ), I think it's just a "how can we sell loads of papers this monday"....
Anyway, reshuffle or not, Labour will probably take a pounding at the election (rightly so) and I forsee a leadership challenge, esp if UKIP or bnp (I doubt that tho) come higher.
Some old saying about keeping enemies nearer so sacking Blears and/or Smith (both of whom would love a go at PM I reckon) would prompt a leadership challenge.
Interesting if he sacked/demoted Darling (anything other than going from CE to PM is a demotion/sacking), no one "really" blames Darling that much as it's GB that has controlled (?!) the purse strings and economy since 1997 so he won't be able to shift the blame that easy.

A reshuffle is due in June anyway. Brown will sack Smith and Blears for sure to show that he is strong. If he is really ballsy he might take the opportunity to fire Milliband too. Whether he moves Darling or makes Balls home sec remains to be seen. As far as a challenge is concerned he doesn't have a problem with Smith or Blears. Smith is disliked by everyone and seen as a liability. Blears came a lamentable 5th and last in the deputy leadership elections and has no constituency in the PLP. Don't forget that in order for a challenge to take place 20% of Labour MP's must sign the nomination paper. That's 70 MP's. They haven't shown the balls to stand up to Brown so far. If they get wiped at at the local and euro elections and IF (and it's a huge IF) a credible candidate can be persuaded to stand (Johnson or Straw) then maybe it would happen. Otherwise forget it.

Balls is Browns heir apparent so it is logical that he will move to the treasury.
Unfortunately Ed Balls is a fking idiot.unrepentant said:

Hmm, I wonder if that's why Smith was sounding off in the media recently about women's equality and pay, glass ceiling etc. trying to make it harder for GB to sack her Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
