employment in the public sector - stats?

anyone know the % of workforce by region employed by the govt?

Another thread mentions 75% in teh NE worked for the public service but had no reference to data.

Anyone have the stats??

Do you mean employed as in "directly" - such as own staff, temps etc
or, include indirectly employed - such as contractors and support staff on Gov contracts?
