Why does this have to be change, why should the George Medal be changed and the OBE not accepted?

Don't change this and tell those that 'believe' it has any other connotation than to reward and celebrate achievements, to go hang!

If they dont want to accept the award, they can always refuse it. IIRC, it isnt forced upon anyone.

I remember years ago when I lived near Watford that the Labour PC lot wanted to change the many road names such as 'Imperial Way' because it offended the ethnics - they wheeled out a 20yr old pakistani girl as a spokes'man' and she was ripped to shreds in the end and nothing changed.

A complete waste of time, it raised tensions that hadn't existed before all because someone thought that someone else might be offended.

Tail wagging the dog IMO.

Oops - seems someone's post vanished!

Unbelievable.

When will people realise that this is all part of our history and should be cherished?

The GM is awarded for an exceptional act of bravery and the image of St. George slaying a dragon which appears on the medal is surely a good example of a brave act whether you are English, Irish, Welsh or Scots? The GC also has St George on it. Also, I am doubtful that the "George" in the GC and GM refers to St. George but rather King George VI, who introduced the medals. I would suspect the latter as we also had the Edward and Albert medals, which were superseded by the GC. If this is the case, there is no reason at all to refer to the decorations as Anglocentric at all........

I thought the George medal was named after a king and not the saint? In fact I thought all of the ones with 'Christian' names were named after monarchs.

I understand it is the name of the honour that is deemed 'unlawful'. How daft. Unless the selection criteria is christians only, I cannot see how a name can be offensive to non christians, unless the honour is called the 'Muslims are a bunch of whining, cry babies' award.

Christine Grahame needs to change her "Christian" name, if she is so upset by such things.

Why must we keep appeasing these people? People who campaign for their human rights and equality, yet if they were in charge, these very rights and equalities would not exist.

When will someone grow a pair and tell them to move to a country better adjusted to their belief systems than ours?

It's a fking joke - nowhere in the islamic world would tolerate us campaigning against their national medals. You'd probably end up locked up.

HK had some mosques and ninja bhes kicking about, but they shut the fk up and got on with whatever it is they do.

They certainly weren't trying to make the Chinese change anything, and there are bits of HK that are a lot more permissive morally than anything we have in this country....

This decision was made by 5 Law Lords.

Note the word Lord, which is, (when I have my silly, PC head on), is a clear reference to Jesus because he is commonly referred to as ‘The Lord Jesus’.

They are clearly being racist, just by accepting being called Lords.

Now, if they want to do something useful, they should stop being Lords if they can’t think any better than this.

And would all the people who have the racist Victoria Cross please give them back; Including all the non-Christians who saw nothing wrong in risking their lives for this country, nor any wrong in accepting a VC after they earned one.

I'm offended by people who are offended. Can I sue anyone?
